INTRODUCTION TO TECNICAL INFORMATION

My hobby has always been classic cars and now my hobby and job have been centred on the Morris Minor for over 35 years. I have gained a lot of experience and I want to share this with you.

I have been working in Sri Lanka since 1992 and seen that in Sri Lanka most information about how to maintain and repair the Morris Minor is lost over the years. The mechanics are very good at making the car run, but due to lack of knowledge, quality spare parts and money they can not do the job correctly. A few Morris Minor Owners consider repairing the car properly, but many do not know how or where to have it done. Therefore many Morris Minors are in bad condition.

Best is that you maintain and repair your Morris Minor yourself or at least know how to instruct and supervise your mechanic. It is not difficult and you will learn by doing. Even you know very little, you will often find out easily. Some information is available on the web. The workshop manual and drivers handbook is reprinted and available too. I can provide some basic and practical information which is not in the books. Your fellow Morris Minor Owners will also be able to give advice. You are not alone and it is an interesting hobby with a purpose. A well maintained Morris Minor still perform well in our everyday traffic and can give us good service. Long term cheaply, even it will cost you to get started. The more you can afford to spend, the less trouble, but anyway you can improve and keep your Morris Minor running to your budget. Do it yourself and you are fully in control.

In Classic Cars we now have a few good spare parts available and we are able to do a good job on a Morris Minor to Sri Lankan standards. Still we need to develop much, but for the time being, we can help with many things. Actually everything for the Morris Minor is available from my company in Denmark. We do our best to make parts available in Sri Lanka at a lower price where possible. We are constantly checking parts from India and other suppliers and some are not too bad.

During our Morris Minor Rally in January and whenever I meet you, I learn about your problems, but then the time is limited and I can only tell a little. These technical articles can help a little, but the subject is enormous and even I spend all my time on it, it would never be enough. Therefore I need your feed back for finding out what to give priority. Please feel free to ask any question. I am in Sri Lanka 3 times a year and you are welcome to visit me and discuss your Morris Minor. You can send me an e-mail, anton@morrisminor.dk, for finding out when I am in Sri Lanka next time, January/February, May/June or September/October, and make an appointment.

Please let me know if you have some ideas about how to spread the good news about the Morris Minor. Much is about communication and I need your help and assistance. What can I do? What can you do? What is most needed? How can I make best use of my time? How can I teach you about the Morris Minor? How can you teach me to develop my company?
Let us join forces. The better I can do, the easier it is to keep your Minor on the road. The easier it is, the more will be interested. The more interested, the more cars to serve. The more cars to serve, the better I can do!
Please consider and let me know what you think we can do, best by e-mail to me: anton@morrisminor.dk

Best regards
Anton
